Now, I know that Scoob just recently had a post on configuring Volvos but tonight it’s going to be a bit different...all the cars will be from the Volvo UK site! Don’t worry, it’s all in English (surprise!) and for some reason the steering wheels are all on the left... But this is your chance to create the V40 or S60 Cross Country of your dreams!

Here is my own V70 D4 stick shift...

I’m always impressed at how other countries go to such effort to make learn and use english. It’s very considerate of them.
Also, UK configurator, left-hand drive?

I already own the perfect Volvo for me… 2005 Volvo S80 T5.

Both of those were quite surprising discoveries indeed...

Well if we’re talking perfect Volvos I’m pretty sure my ‘05 V50 takes that spot in my life! (Though not that it would be more perfect with a T5 and stick shift, but that would just be superfluous to a point...)

Awesome car! your smile says it all. Sorry if I was a bit unclear, I meant that I owed the perfect Volvo for my own needs and styling preferences - thats not to say that others don't own the perfect Volvo for them too. Jealous of your roof rack. :)

Saves time I guess on the number of images, etc...

Actually, I had the same implication in mind so no worries there...I’m a wagon man for life but I will never say no to a good Volvo coupe or sedan (or Saab hatch for that matter...) I do like the roof rails though since I currently have no need for the rack off it comes for now...
On a second note, I do have a somewhat odd question for you...from what I understand, you consider yourself gay ...do you feel that that has somehow affected you majorly in any way, especially as a gearhead? I think that I myself am currently somewhat in the closet and was thinking if it would be a good idea to leave just yet...it’s not that I fear that it won’t be accepted...I actually fear that I will and it will suddenly become a big deal when I don’t want it to be...

I don’t think it affected me in a major way, and I don’t think it really effected how I am perceived either. I came out gradually, first to my parents, then to my closest friends. The reality of it is that it shouldn’t be a big deal. It simply your sexual preference, nothing more. You don’t have to fulfill stereotypes of rainbows and nail polish and acting effeminately. I don’t go around shouting ‘IM GAY!” because it isn’t really something to be proud of or ashamed of, its just a part of who I am. If you don’t make a big deal of it yourself, the people around you won’t either.
By the way - if you’re a bit unsure, think about this. In your daily life, say in public, watching TV, Netflix, etc. - which gender turns you on? And then you can go from there.
If you need to talk more I’d be more than happy to give you my email address. Best wishes.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply. My friends actually know already but I don’t really want to tell it obviously to my parents just yet seeing that they will probably be supportive (too supportive) and blow the whole thing up...I guess I’ll just leave things where they are now...
